What it's used for
Fenofibrate is used alongside diet to reduce elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels and to increase HDL-C in adults with primary hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, or severe hypertriglyceridemia.

Typical dosing
For primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia, the initial dose is 160 mg once daily, while severe hypertriglyceridemia starts at 54 mg to 160 mg once daily.

Common side effects
Common side effects occurring in more than 2% of patients include abnormal liver tests, increased liver enzymes, increased CPK, and rhinitis.
