What it's used for

Fosphenytoin sodium injection is used for the treatment of generalized tonic-clonic status epilepticus and the prevention and treatment of seizures during neurosurgery. It can also be used as a short-term substitute when oral phenytoin is not possible.

Typical dosing

The adult loading dose for status epilepticus is 15 to 20 mg PE/kg administered at a rate of 100 to 150 mg PE/min.
