What it's used for

Fosphenytoin sodium injection is used to treat generalized tonic-clonic status epilepticus, prevent and treat seizures during neurosurgery, and serve as a short-term substitute for oral phenytoin.

Typical dosing

For status epilepticus, the adult loading dose is 15 to 20 mg PE/kg at a rate of 100 to 150 mg PE/min, with specific pediatric dosing and infusion rates as well.
