In patients with breast cancer and in immobilized patients, androgen therapy may cause hypercalcemia by stimulating bone breakdown.

In females, common side effects of androgen therapy include menstrual irregularities, inhibition of gonadotropin secretion, and virilization such as deepening of the voice and clitoral enlargement.
